Grand Prize Scuba Diving Magazine

Ansel Adams once said, “There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer.” As we sifted through the entries in our 2011 photo contest, we often found ourselves admiring an image. As we narrowed down the selections, we realized the winning photographs achieved something special, something that Ansel Adams understood. These photographers live in various parts of the world, use different camera systems and pursue underwater photography for unique reasons, but their photos share one common trait: They have the power to transport us to faraway seas, place us in the moment of rare encounters, and remind us why we love to dive.

Silver Medal - Wide Angle Natural Light (No Strobe) - Underwater Photography Contest

Winning here (or even just being placed) is Underwater Photography's most coveted accolade because it says you succeeded in the most competitive environment there is, against the top talent of the moment.

Every year a panel of judges select the best images entered in our online photo contest from the previous year. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded for the top three from each category in order of merit.

This photography contest is the longest running and one of the most prestigious online. If you want to make a name for yourself this is THE place to do it.
